In my younger years, I had a friend who suffered from Paranoid Schizophrenia.
Before his sickness became too advanced, he’d often draw my attention to signs that had secret messages for him.
This made me aware that the signs that surround us could have much different meanings depending upon the context, and frame of mind with which one looks at them.

Thinking about him, many years later, I decided to start photographing signs.
