The series “From Behind” was originally conceived with the aim of giving my subjects the same anonymity that I enjoy as a photographer.
Of course in the past I also photographed people without their knowledge or permission. But I feel that the risks of abuse of one's private sphere have been increased enormously with the advent of social media and ease of the manipulation of digital images thru the use of photoshop et al.
Digital photography has brought many advantages to my profession and personal work. I am happy about the precision it offers me in creating images. I am also a user of both Facebook and Instagram. But the ease with which a person's privacy can be abused is disturbing to me and has motivated me, among other reasons , to create this series of images.

Naturally that is my personal decision, one that every photographer has to answer for him/herself.
